Do work not because it feels good, but because it has to be done. Not only when we feel good, but whenever it needs to be done. Not however we can to finish, but as it must be done.
That’s the way of the professional you.

Sometimes we say thoughts count, and they do. As the seeds are the origin of plants, so are thoughts the origin of execution.
However, a thought that is not acted upon serves the same thing as an unplanted seed.
What counts is action, putting the thought to work. Starting from preparation for planting, to working the field like a farmer until the crop ripens. Just like with crop, not all ideas will succeed. But if it works, we get to feed off the rewards.
So, yes, thoughts count, but so does the action. And maybe, all we need to do is take the next step.

In the last days of the year, as more and more people go on leave, I realize how important their presence is to me.
It is energizing to be around colleagues. And when they’re gone, it’s like the energy has been sapped. So the final stretch wants us to go slower, to rest more.
And maybe, this is the moments we need to check in with ourselves. To connect with ourselves, and recalibrate for the upcoming year. And maybe, that connection will give us the strength to continue. For, while the year is ending, project you, God-willing, continues into the next year.

Even before we were born, there were people fighting our battles, in part or whole. Initially, it’s your immediate family, then it extends to friends and colleagues. You might not know it, but they’ve defended you where you’re not present.
As we take a bit of time out to reflect on the year, it might be time to check in with your warriors and say: “Thank you.”
The year is almost over. The journey, however, hopefully continues. If the journey continues, the old African proverb holds: “If you want to go fast, go alone. But if you want to go far, go as a team.”

When you write, you are somehow summarizing. From the mountains of notes, one has to decide what fits the goal of the piece you are writing.
Not all can be written, and when structuring, the story might be slightly different from how it unfolded.
Therein lies the beauty, to create something from raw data, and to make sense. In that way, maybe, just maybe, writing is thinking.
