  • Learn to Ask

    September 18th, 2023

Share a lesson you wish you had learned earlier in life.

We all start out as babies, depending on our family, if we’re that lucky, or those people who love us enough to take care of us. As we grow older, we grow more independent and can complete tasks on our own.

We however remain part of the community of humans and rely on each other in various ways. Despite our many qualities, we however don’t know how to read each other’s minds. Therefore, it’s necessary to communicate and to ask where we need help.

Too many times, I’ve not asked for the help I needed when I needed it. And that, more often than not, has held me back. It’s important to realise that we become more effective when we go from independent to interdependent.

  • When batteries fail us, we live

    September 17th, 2023

In a world where our smartphones often lead us into digital distractions, there are moments when fate intervenes, and our headphones fall silent. During a recent post-gym walk, my headphones decided to give up on me, leaving me with nothing but the sounds of the world around me.

In those unplugged moments, I rediscovered the power of voice calls, reconnecting with loved ones and embracing the beauty of nature. But it wasn’t just about the people I spoke to; it was about the symphony of sounds – the birds, the distant industry, my own footsteps, and the jingling of my keys – that became a part of my experience.

So, remember, when batteries fail, and our screens go dark, it’s an opportunity for humanity to come alive, and for us to truly connect with the world and people around us.

  • It’s a Privilege

    September 16th, 2023

How often do you walk or run?

For years, I struggled to exercise regularly until running found ms about 6 years ago. Now I love running, and get to strip up my laces 3 to 4 times a week. I don’t walk nearly enough, so that is an area of improvement.

I definitely feel lucky that I can wake up and run with minimal hustle, so I try to maximise that opportunity.

  • As the Parent Goes

Do you see yourself as a leader?

When you have little humans looking to you for guidance, you have no choice but to lead.

It starts there and extends to family and work life. Not in all situations, but in many a situation, I am leading.

It’s a privilege, and one worth taking seriously. Not easy, but fulfilling.

The greatest miracle on this planet is that a small cloud can block the sun, but only for a little while. The sun will come up again tomorrow. It will power the entire planet. Nothing can stop it.

What we need to ask ourselves is whether we want to be the small cloud, occasionally making a dent, or the sun, who, despite setbacks, comes back to its power, and never fails for long in its role to power the world.
