  • There is a cost to poor sleep

    March 3rd, 2022

Some studies have quantified it, but without dwelling into the dollar values, you know that there is a cost to sleeping late.

If you aren’t rested well, it affects your health and your relationships, let alone the poor focus on what you need to do.

That one last thing you’re doing before bed, could probably wait until the morning. If you can, get the rest and prepare to be awesome tomorrow. We need your best self.

  • Amongst friends

    March 2nd, 2022

Everyday, we see so many people, laughing and sharing moments, happily going about their business. Yet, we might be filling lost, wondering what is wrong with us that we are not experiencing the same joy.

We are social beings yes, and we need each other. So when you are sitting alone at the park bench, you also wish at times for the human connection that you might see others sharing around you. The good thing is that it is within reach.

When we are amongst strangers, we are most likely amongst friends, or friendly people. When we reach out, we are more likely to meet with kindness rather than hostility. The journey from potential friend to friend starts with taking the courage to make the initial connection with a stranger who might need it more than you do.

We have more in common than that which separates us. So at most times, our assumption should be that we are amongst friends.

  • Choose love

    March 1st, 2022

We’re often unkind to ourselves and others, criticizing our own moves and that of others. That can cause us to stall, and not do the work.

What if we chose to love instead? What if we recognize that there is no effort without error, and that there is no growth without effort? We would be less paralyzed, and therefore act more boldly. We would also be more forgiving of our own human failings and that of others.

Let’s choose to love ourselves and others as true friends should, holding ourselves accountable to our true ideals and values, but with tolerances for our human fallibility. Don’t we all need a friend? And what better way to start than by being your own best friend.

  • The present

    February 28th, 2022

It is perhaps the hardest thing to do, and that is to be fully present in the moment. With ideas raging on the future, and thinking about the past, we can lose sight of the present moment. Yet, it’s the only moment we are guaranteed of, and the only one we can change.

There are tensions, like an urgent call coming through while having an important discussion with a person that matters or working on your project. The person or project matters, and probably deserve your undivided attention. That call, or distraction, is probably not that that important.

Give the gift of your full presence, and you might be surprised with the results.

  • Curiosity

    February 27th, 2022

A wonderful quote I learnt recently is: “Always be curious, never be complacent” by Bill Rasmussen. What a way to structure your life.
