In order to improve, it’s necessary to slow down sometimes. Take the moment, assess, and readjust.
It gives you an opportunity to see where you are, what worked, and decide whether you need grit to stick it out or a change in direction.

From outside looking in, it looks easy. You picture being on top, with no one to tell you what to do.
It is fictional, but The 100 was great in highlighting the issues facing leaders. In choosing and pursuing what’s right for your people, others must pay the price.
As a leader, you must live with the consequences, because what comes to you are always the impossible choices.
When I run, I like to finish a particular distance, usually a round number, or I would look at the watch and time it just to end on 00, 05, 10 or similar increment of time.
Surely the exercise is equally valuable when it stops at 07, 13 or 21. Why was the 4 minute mile so significant, or the 2 hour marathon?
This not only happens in sports, but in other areas of life as well. The quest for round numbers can push us the extra distance to reach the round number, or stop us short of reaching our true potential.
The Bible starts with a story, and has a succession of stories throughout as we learn of the triumphs and suffering of humans.
With its structure of a hero, villain and victim, stories are powerful ways to convey a message. We are taken on the hero’s journey to fight, face the obstacles and ultimate overcome the villain’s wicked ways in order to save the victim.
Like every powerful tool, stories can be used for good or evil. And just like with a good story where the villain manages to con the hero by disguising his or her intentions, you may not know when the deception by story-telling is on. As with any tool, a story-telling might only be suitable in certain instances. For live doesn’t always have a hero, villain and victim.
Months of training were all leading up to this day. Finally, all that was left on my calendar was the race.
After the first kilometer I wondered if I would make it all the way, but through a focus on what I had covered already, with the knowledge that I had put in the work, I could trust my legs.
One foot in front of the other, a journey of a half marathon was eventually in the books. Nothing is impossible.
