  • Take the Win

    February 1st, 2022

Maybe, for you, things didn’t go as planned today, this week, or so far this year. However, when you sit back and review that period, you will notice something positive that happened. At worst, you’re still alive, and having reflected, you have learnt something through the process, no matter how painful it was.

Take that win, for we need wins. The negative self-talk is hurting you unnecessarily. The road was bumpy, but you’re still here, weary but not out. That’s a win, something to build on for the future.

  • Do Then Be

    January 31st, 2022

I learnt this phrase and it is interesting how many times it shows up. We are truly the masters of our destiny, for we don’t need to wait for inspiration. We act, then the mood comes. No runner ever regretted a completed run.

    Do then be.

  • Epicurean Thoughts

    January 30th, 2022

So I’ve started exploring this ancient philosophy, and at this stage I don’t know what it is really, only that it speaks about pleasure and that there is no point to an infinite life, for once you reach the highest point of pleasure, like reaching the top of a mountain, spending more time there does not improve the quality of the experience.

  • Truly Random

    January 29th, 2022

Another day, another great or two on display. Michael Jordan’s HOF induction showing his greatest hits, including crying when he won the championship. Also watched a clip of Denzel playing a lawyer during the apartheid era. Where it not for men like these, who acted when it was more appropriate not to act, who were willing to sacrifice their lives for the future of humanity, would we still be at the same place today.

I also got a brief introduction to Dr. Michio Kaku, the concept of parallel universes and time travel. It’s amazing what we don’t know yet.

Seth Godin reminds me in The Practice that there is never a perfect time to act. Do-then-be. If you want to write, write, if you want to run, run.

  • Value

    January 28th, 2022

As I am admiring the greatness of Rafael Nadal, who has now reached his 29th grand slam final and is one match away from winning his 21st grand slam title, I’m reminded again of value and context.

In the hands of Nadal, a racket is invaluable. It has redefined his life in more ways than any other thing could have. A soccer ball, on the other hand, has little value for him, but it has immense value for Christian’s Ronaldo.

The challenge, then, is to find what’s valuable for you, and focus on developing that skill or talent as much as you can.
