Random Walks

  • Skip

    October 8th, 2022

Sometimes, it’ll happen that you miss a few sessions of the important work we ought to do. Maybe there was no legitimate reason to miss those sessions, but we did.

The best thing to do, is to pitch up for the next session and do the work. Then, in time, we can make real progress.

  • Lightning

    October 5th, 2022

It may or may not come with the rain. It is rare, but the conditions have to be right for it. Just like that with our best ideas. We need to cloud our minds with many ideas, good and bad. As the ideas bounce around, with the friction, the chances of lightning increases.

That means practice, practice, and more practice at your craft.

  • Goal

    October 4th, 2022

As in sports, in many aspects of life, results matter. It goes beyond having a good game, and is measured on the outcomes.

Given the importance of outcomes in situations where they matter, it is probably worthwhile to work towards that goal. And if that means that the goal should be defined, then our first work is probably that.

In sports, you ensure that you beat the other side. As you press forward, you make sure that you also protect your back, so the opponent doesn’t score more than you do. The same is true for the results we seek. We have to work on both offense and defense.

Whereas you can train within rules, and master those rules in sports, in life, the advantage is that you can create your own rules, and play to your strengths.

All it might require is focus on what’s key for the goal.

  • Shooting from the hip

    October 3rd, 2022

That’s what happens most of the time. Maybe, taking a moment to verify the credibility of sources is a first step in the right direction. Then, considering different sources, might allow us to appreciate diverse perspectives.

So, while shooting from the hip is not always bad, being on target is preferable in many instances.

  • Possibilities

    October 1st, 2022

When you think beyond the current limits, everything is possible.

What we see today, was created by someone with foresight. Someone who thought that there was a little more to do, another way to fold the envelope, and acted on it.

Of course, one does not need to reinvent the wheel. You leverage on the knowledge of those that came before, and build on it.
